Agroforestry in Bahia, Brazil
We are partnering with specialists to develop a new agroforest in the state of Bahia, Brazil. In this 20-year project, we are carefully planning plantation map, operation, the harvesting, and sales to guarantee it will benefit humans and nature. The Fazenda Harmonia will have an agrisilvicultural system which is a combination of crops and trees, such as alley cropping or homegardens.
What is Agroforestry?
Agroforestry is the intentional integration of trees and shrubs into crop and animal farming systems to create environmental, economic, and social benefits. It has been practiced in the United States and around the world for centuries. Combinations of trees, crop and livestock are intentionally designed and managed as a whole unit. The biological and physical interaction between the crop and the livestock components are manipulated to enhance the agricultural production of the land base.
